Step Into My World

Gear # 2- FLEXIBILITY

Be flexible on a day to day basis.  You don’t have to change your overall business plan, but you have to make subtle changes as you move forward on a hourly, daily and yearly basis.

-Mehul Sheth, Anecdotes from Step Into My World

Maximum Horsepower 2

The biggest take away for me is that your dreams of success have to have flexibility.  Your target to make profit may have a faster timeline than your cash flow or other circumstances allow.  Patience is key to small business horsepower.

Listen to my podcast with Eddie Dean, CEO, DEG PRESENTS, USA

Eddie Dean wears many hats, as the CEO and founder of RPM Presents (now DEG Presents), managing director of Pacha Macau, and president and CEO of the recently closed Pacha New York. Dean has organized countless events for hundreds of thousands of music fans worldwide.

Dean’s first venue was Faces, a small pub in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Next came Ruby’s, and later, Rock ‘n Jocks. He first hit Manhattan in 1999, opening Hush in the Flatiron District. By 2001 the venue had a new sound system – and new name: Discotheque. Two years – and countless parties later – he opened Tiki Room, before setting out on his biggest venture to date, as he opened Pacha New York.

Eddie Dean took the Pacha franchise to a new level. For a full decade, Pacha New York’s trophy case busted at the brims – with accolades from Forbes to Maxim, DJ Mag to Mixmag, and multiple IDMA awards. Every DJ under the sun has graced the Pacha decks; Pacha was the undisputed home of dance music in New York.

In 2012, Dean expanded his empire as he launched RPM Presents. RPM quickly became the leading event producer on the East Coast, introducing dance music to venues throughout NYC with events at Pier 94, Radio City, Madison Square Garden, Governors Island, Central Park, Pier 36, MetLife Stadium, Citi Field, the Meadowlands Race Track, and more. RPM has brought major festivals including Electric Daisy Carnival and Life in Color to New York, and has powered events throughout New Jersey and Brooklyn.

In April 2015, Eddie Dean announced his biggest international venture to date; Pacha Macau. Pacha is China’s first megaclub, as Dean brings Ibiza-style nightlife to Greater China for the very first time, electrifying the island’s burgeoning club scene.

2015 was one of Dean’s biggest years. Spring saw the fourth annual Electric Daisy Carnival New York at MetLife Stadium, along with a series of BKWRHS warehouse shows in Brooklyn. Later that year, Dean brought New York’s premier Halloween event series “Pier of Fear” back to Pier 94, followed by his annual New Years Celebration: Big Week NYC, all with record-breaking attendance.

In December he celebrated Pacha New York’s tenth anniversary: an impressive anniversary for a New York club – and just a few months later made the bold decision to close it’s doors, focusing on ‘going home’ to Brooklyn with his latest venture at 54 N.11th Street, Schimanski Nightclub.

2017 brings a brand-new outdoor venue to Eddie’s portfolio, The Harbor Hills Project on Governors Island – a previously untouched 8-acre waterfront space for music, food, arts, and cultural events.
